Reviews Word on the street for the Sony NEX F3

7.4
ISO 6400 is still surprisingly clean, and even ISO 12800 and 16000 can be used if you're really desperate.

9.0
NEX-F3, nex f3, nexf3, nex-f3, Son.

7.8
The camera has the usual assemblage of Sony features, including 2D and 3D Sweep Panorama modes, Auto HDR, and a fixed-exposure 5.5fps continuous-shooting mode.

8.0
The screen is clear and bright, thanks to its high resolution.

What People Are Saying Give it to me straight

Sensor

ISO 200 JPEGs look clean and free of artifacts, and low-light JPEGs are usable at least up through ISO 800, and depending upon their content and how you plan to display them, as high as ISO 3200.
by c|net (May, 2012)
It also has a wider ISO range, an improved movie mode, and a new Superior Auto mode.
by DPReview (Aug, 2012)
If you'd rather use Photoshop for editing RAW files, just make sure that your Camera Raw plug-in is up-to-date.
by DPReview (Aug, 2012)

Lens

I took all of my gallery photos with the new 18 - 200 mm lens, and was pleased with the sharpness (the 18 - 55 mm kit lens performs pretty well, too).
by DPReview (Aug, 2012)
Both modes offer Sony's Photo Creativity Mode, which lets you easily adjust background blur (aperture), brightness (exposure compensation), color (white balance), and vividness (saturation), without having to know any technical jargon.
by DPReview (Aug, 2012)
Sony's lens ecosystem is still small (though the company's committed to growing it), but the lenses are generally really high quality.
by David-Pierce (Jun, 2012)

Image quality

It is more than capable of producing high quality images under a wide range of conditions and feels very responsive in use.
by TechRadar (May, 2012)
With a streamlined interface, small - but not too small - bodies, solid performance, and very good photo quality for a modest price, the consumer NEX models don't excel in any particular aspect but deliver a nice, well-rounded package for people searching for something better than a point-and shoot.
by c|net (May, 2012)
Add in some of the best photo quality of any budget ILC out there, and it looks like Sony has a winner on their hands.
by DPReview (Aug, 2012)

Screen

It's filled with a super-sharp 921,000 dots, and more importantly is very accurate.
by David-Pierce (Jun, 2012)
When the screen is flipped around, a three second self timer automatically engages, making it much easier to ready yourself for shots taken at arms length.
by TechRadar (May, 2012)
The 3-inch screen can easily be flipped out by lifting either one of two tabbed areas.
by TechRadar (May, 2012)

Iso

Basically, Superior Auto takes standard Auto — automatically setting shutter speed, ISO, and aperture — and adds on a bunch of options, so that the NEX-F3 can do things like enter HDR mode while in Auto.
by David-Pierce (Jun, 2012)
Two 'soft' buttons can be remapped manually by the user, to provide quick access to common adjustments, such as ISO, exposure compensation, dynamic range tools or a number of other commonly adjusted features.
by TechRadar (May, 2012)
In Raw mode, with noise reduction turned off in Adobe Camera Raw, the gap between these four models (remember you can select your own comparison cameras if you wish) narrows at low ISOs, to the point where at a pixel level, there's not much to choose between them, visually, until ISO 1600.
