The Pentax Q system is a great example of perhaps being essentially a system for the Japanese market and other affluent high tech markets in Asia (Hong Kong, Singapore, etc).
There is good reason why Olympus does this - compact adorable cameras, including ones of the interchangeable lens variety are very popular in Japan.
