Fujifilm X-T1

Announced January, 2014
  • 16.3 MP
  • APS-C 23.6 x 15.6 mm CMOS
  • 3" LCD
But the standout feature of the camera is the huge, bright EVF; its 0.77x effective magnification is higher than any 35mm or smaller-sensored camera I can find, optical or electronic.

Reviews Word on the street for the Fujifilm X-T1

What People Are Saying Give it to me straight

The company had previously announced 3 lenses on its 2014 roadmap - the XF18-135mmF3.5-5.6 R OIS WR, XF16-55mmF2.8 R OIS WR and the XF50-140mmF2.8 R OIS WR - which it now officially updates to weather-resistant; the 18-135mm lens is slated to ship in May.

It's taken a while, but camera manufacturers finally seem to be following Olympus' lead to produce higher-end, fast, weather-resistant, interchangeable-lens cameras.

Keep in mind that the 18-55mm kit lens is not sealed.

New, lower-noise circuitry has allowed Fujifilm to bump the maximum sensitivity to ISO 51200 up from ISO 25600.

In practice that usually means you'll get another stop of usability in the midrange and better results at all settings below that; in this case, it probably means more latitude for using ISO 6400.

The X-T1 also incorporates supports for UHS-II SDXC cards for longer continuous-shooting runs (currently, it looks like only Toshiba and Panasonic are shipping UHS-II cards), although I'm curious as to whether it actually requires the newer cards to attain the rated 8fps burst rate.

Fujifilm puts the extra area to good use with a new dual display; during manual focus, you can see the full scene plus a magnified detail.

Another indication that Fujifilm's going after the power crowd: it will be offering a new vertical grip that holds a second battery rather than just a better handhold.

In The News From around the web

We need precisely the type of photos DPReview gives us: photos of the built environment with hard edges, a range of textures, varied contrast, bright and dark ambient lighting, mixed light sources, colours ranging from pastel to hyper-saturated, etc..
I saw a gallery of this guy who took some X-T1 Samples and his first 2 pics are RAW processed with Iridient lots of detail in the building nice and crisp, I always find the Jpgs from my XE1+18-55 are only useful when resizing down and applying some unsharp mask.

Fujifilm X-T1 First Impressions Review

After using EVILs for three years, I have found that larger viewfinder magnifications rates make it more difficult to get a correct framing, since one's eyes are strained when looking at them...I see that the magnification rate is selectable, but won't that be throwing away pixels on the EVF's OLED?
ISO wheel on the wrong side- all wheels don't turn exactly how we want- auto ISO minimum shutter speed only up to 1/500th sec- JPEG quality worse than RAW- no triple SD card slot- lens selection limited- no 10 axis IBIS- battery life not unlimited- colors from another world- EVF with 0.005 sec lag slow compared to OVF- doesn't have a mirror- doesn't come in pink.
